About Avara
Avara Coffee exists for those who don’t just drink coffee — they explore it.
We believe coffee is not a product, but a world of origins, people, processes, and stories waiting to be discovered. Every cup is a journey, and Avara is built to take you deeper into that journey — one roast at a time.
Our coffee is freshly roasted in small batches in Ahmedabad, crafted to highlight the character of each origin rather than mask it. From bright and floral International to rich, chocolatey Indian profiles, we focus on clarity, balance, and experience in every brew.
The Story Behind Avara
Avara Coffee was founded by Pranavraj Thakkar, whose journey through coffee began far from where it stands today.
In 2020, Pranav moved to London to pursue his MBA and joined Costa Coffee during his studies. What started as a part-time role soon became a deeper immersion into the world of coffee retail. After completing his MBA, he was offered a full-time role as an Expansion Manager, where he worked across new city launches, scouting store locations, building café operations, and understanding how coffee moves from concept to customer experience.
This phase gave him a ground-level understanding of coffee as a retail ecosystem — but also sparked a curiosity about what happens behind the counter.
To get closer to the craft, he moved into the roasting world, joining a coffee roastery company where he started as a packaging assistant. In between operations, he spent his free time learning roasting, observing profiles, and slowly building hands-on experience with beans, heat, and time. This is where roasting stopped being theory and became practice.
In 2025, after returning to India, he briefly explored a career in strategy consulting. But during the process, he realized something important — he was not built for a desk.
His work had always been shaped by movement, travel, and real-world experience. That realization led him to leave and travel across Bangalore and Chikmagalur, where he immersed himself deeper into coffee culture. He completed a roasting crash course at the Specialty Coffee Academy of India with Suhas Dhawarkanath, and spent time on farms understanding cultivation, processing, and the journey of coffee from seed to cup.
From roasting coffee in a home kitchen using a gas setup to building Avara’s first roasting operations from scratch, the journey has been one of constant learning, experimentation, and obsession.
Today, Avara processes its own coffee and continues to grow with a simple belief:
- Coffee is not just a drink. It is a world — and most people have only seen a small part of it.
Why Avara
The word Avara comes from “Awaara” — a wanderer.
It represents curiosity, movement, and the refusal to stay in one place — physically or intellectually. That spirit is at the core of everything we do.
We don’t just want to sell coffee.
We want to help people wander through it.
From origin to origin, roast to roast, cup to cup — Avara is built for exploration.
